Chang’ombe Vianzi, Pwani Region – On May 03, Mwanamke Green Initiative visited the community of Chang’ombe Vianzi in the Pwani Region to train local women on clean energy and sustainable household practices.
The training brought together women to learn practical ways to reduce the burden of collecting firewood, minimize exposure to indoor air pollution, and transition to cleaner, safer energy options for cooking and daily use.
During the session, the MGI team discussed the health risks of traditional cooking methods, the time and cost savings of clean energy technologies, and how adopting solutions like improved cookstoves and alternative fuels can protect both families and the environment.
“Many women here spend hours every day collecting firewood. Our goal is to give them knowledge and alternatives that save time, improve health, and protect our forests,” said a representative from Mwanamke Green Initiative.
Participants engaged actively, asking questions and sharing their daily challenges. Many expressed interest in adopting clean energy solutions to create healthier homes and free up time for income-generating activities.
This outreach is part of MGI’s ongoing commitment to Clean Energy Access and Women’s Health two of our five core focus areas. By equipping women with information and tools, we are supporting Tanzania’s national goal of 80% clean energy use by 2034 and building more resilient, thriving communities.
Together, we are empowering women to lead the change for a cleaner, healthier Tanzania.
